One notable event we organized was an International Day, during which families set up informational booths in a gymnasium to explore and present different cultures. This initiative not only educated the children about cultural diversity but also instilled in them a respect for different ways of life. We aimed to challenge the children intellectually and culturally, often sharing a variety of international cuisines that enhanced the experience. The concept of family can be likened to a governing body established through shared declarations and principles. From the inception of my married life, I have consistently articulated foundational beliefs that have guided our family structure. After a few years, we relocated to a small community, which presented an opportunity to engage with individuals whose values aligned with our mission. This environment facilitated the formation of a cohesive social network of like-minded parents, which would have been unattainable without the foundational principles we upheld. Our homeschooling group engaged in various collaborative activities, including co-operative learning, field trips, graduation ceremonies, holiday celebrations, social dances, and community service initiatives. This approach fostered an outward focus, allowing our children to cultivate relationships with other families within the community. Additionally, we invited state senators to address our group, with the intent of equipping the children with leadership skills necessary for public speaking. Our collaboration extended beyond just the parents; we also engaged with local social and welfare agencies. This connection to the broader community allowed us to serve as a bridge to public schools, facilitating opportunities for our children to participate in sports teams and providing guidance for parents interested in transitioning from traditional schooling to homeschooling.
