Psa 13:1 How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
When God hides His face it is not necessary His doing but our misunderstanding. The Psalmist complains to God by using words that are Doctrinal. From the view of the Psalmist the problems are real. From God's view the problem can be solved by direct infusion of life or by illumination. When God solves a problem it is usually by constraining us.
We are born in a world that is opposed to God. In order for us to understand the opposition we must meditate on the axioms. In the Psalms God defines the personality of evil, the philosophy of the evil and the angle of the attack. The axioms are not just written to describe the problem intellectually but they are written in pronouncing opposition to the problem. They are written to wrestle with the problem in the mind . "How long must I wrestle with my thoughts?"
Psa 13:2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
God has made us to feel comfortable in our own skin by exercising the strength to overcome whatever is opposing us. So if we are wrestling with our thoughts we are overcome by our opposition. When we are overcome the pronouncements are not able to settle our thoughts. We experience sorrow. When we are wrestling with our thoughts we wrestle in receiving illumination. The Psalmist describes God's care of constraining us as the Shepherd carrying us. We must become strong enough to feel that we are overcoming the opposition.
Psa 13:4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
The most discouraging thoughts when we are not at peace is that the people who do not have our best interest will be able to over power us and destroy us. Since God made us to overcome opposition we define the fear as being in the hands of our enemies.
Psa 13:5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
The Psalmist continues to confide in God. He does not use the word of fleeing to God for refuge. When a person is forced into a corner he will speak the curses fearing that he is desperate. God always solves the problem in ways that are surprising. We must always trust in His axioms.
Psa 13:5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
The Psalmist says that God always compensates us when we struggle. God will never deal with us without repaying us for our struggles. He is always buying back our weakness.
