My first pastor fought in Vietnam. He would tell me this story about marching exercises that would do. He said they would be marching along and there would be a can in the way. I'll never forget what he said. He would say don't kick the can. I guess because it would result in disciplining the troupe.
But this is exactly what the Psalmist is teaching about the first sin. The first sin was more than rebellion against God You see before sin entered the world God had created all things to be diverse. But there is nothing identical because God made the world to fit the parts together. God did this to make everyone dependent upon the rest of the parts to be complete.
God commanded the first man not to start the process of disorder. Like my pastor would say Don't kick the can. Even tho rebellion is the worse sin eating a piece of fruit was not exactly damaging to the creation. But the Psalmist teaches that God does not contain violence. God's anger is defensive. In other words if God just responded on with the morality of the sin it would not be directed toward why He gave His law. God gave the law to prevent the disruption of His perfect creation that showed perfect unity in how the parts were related to one another. So the Psalmist teaches that when the first man kicked the can because God's masterpiece was so intricately connected. Man in essence began a domino effect throughout God's creation. So God treated the act of rebellion in defense of the parts and how the relationship was broken. The is is why the first sin was an act of war. It was treason. It disrupted the relationships of God's creation.
