Psa 18:7 The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
God is the ruler of the earth. We think that He is not governing the earth but He has spiritual forces that attend to all of the problems and rebellion of the nation's. When God appears from the heavens with His armies it is a most grand appearance. We take pride in the display of our armed forces but when God's armies appear in the sky there is no comparison.
When God comes to judge the nation's His gand entrance is given much greater response. The whole earth shakes and the mountains tremble . The Psalms teach that God responds to the curses with tornados hurricanes, and earth quakes. God's creation is totally under His sovereign will. There is nothing that happens in this world that is not united to His purposes of blessing and cursing. God shows His anger or love as the entire earth reacts to God's pronouncements. When God does any work there is nothing out of order or able to thwart His word !
Psa 18:8 Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it."
God's curses are tried in a furnace that is heated 7 times. When He comes to the defense of His people it is the most awful judgement. There is nothing that the wicked can do to appease His anger. He is dreadful when the pronouncements are spoken. His words that create judgement.
The Psalmist is teaching that God's work is not something we can explain. We cannot see or understand the order and the power of His works. But he is teaching that our salvation is more than a personal experience. That God is working out our salvation with the heavenly armies. God does not do anything without perfect order beauty and precision
Psa 18:9 He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. When God judges the nation's He rolls back the heavens that are covering the glorious sight of His throne. His appearance is marked with His mysterious nature . He would sift the earth if He displayed all of His glory. When we pronounce the curses the words are very mysterious. We experience some of God's desires.
